What do we know about the 737 Max 8 aircraft?

It's fairly new, only coming into commercial use in 2017.

Just under 40 metres in length, with a wingspan of 35.9 metres, the plane can seat up to 210 passengers.

The Ethiopian Airline flight took off at 08:44 local time, visibility at the time was good, but a flight tracking website says the plane's vertical speed was unstable after take-off.

The pilot reported difficulties just minutes later, and asked to return to Addis Abba, according to the airline.

It crashed 6 minutes after take-off, an eyewitness reporting an intense fire as the aircraft hit the ground.

This is the second Boeing 737 Max 8 to crash in five months.
