Fifty years of TV network news: The excess and division of the 1980s

For the second in our series marking 50 years of the television news, we take a look at the 1980s.

The decade known for excess - think shoulder pads a big hair - had major political moves too, both here and abroad.

It kicked off with some of the most divisive protests New Zealand has ever seen, and it was all something we care so much about - rugby.
