Pedestrian seriously injured in incident involving vehicle near Taupō

One person has been seriously injured after an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on State Highway One, just north of Taupō today.

Police say they were called to the incident at Oruanui at 2.44pm today.

The person has been taken to hospital by helicopter with "serious injuries," police say.

State Highway One as closed for a time, but has now reopened.
