All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has taken last night's Rugby World Cup semi-final defeat to England in his stride, saying they were the "better team" before wishing them luck in next week's final.

The All Blacks were run off the Yokohama pitch by a clinical English outfit in a 19-7 defeat and before media could ask the coach about the Test, he wanted to get a few things off his chest.

"I'd like to congratulate England - they were deserved winners tonight," Hansen said.

"There were two very, very good sides going at each other and the team that took the game, won the game so we've got no regrets.

"I'm very proud of the All Blacks. I think this tournament they've played particularly well and tonight we just got beaten by a better side.

"Sometimes you might find that sport's not fair but tonight it was."

Hansen then wished English luck for next week's final where they'll meet the winner of todays' second semi between South Africa and Wales.

"We wish them all the best for what's ahead of them. It's an exciting time."

Hansen also took time to thank Japan for their "wonderful" hosting throughout the tournament.
