There are few other places in New Zealand that holds so much history in such a small space, as Russell.

A trading hub of the Pacific in the 1800s and a place of conflict between Māori and Pakehā, Russell has seen it's share of history.

In a series, TVNZ1's Seven Sharp has been looking at alternative New Zealand capitals to Wellington, due to the earthquake risk there.
