Beauden Barrett's star power at the Rugby World Cup isn't having too much of an impact on his younger brothers Scott and Jordie, who are happy to stay in the background while in Japan.

With the three Barretts all having travelled to Japan as part of the All Blacks' 31-man squad, oldest brother Beauden finds himself as one of the more popular members of Steve Hansen's squad.

The two-time World Rugby player of the year is a firm favourite among the locals, becoming a poster boy for the first Rugby World Cup hosted in Japan.

Asked today about what it was like dealing with their older brother's new-found superstar status, Jordie and Scott Barrett say that they're a tad surprised with Beauden's treatment.

"You kinda know about it I guess," Jordie said.

"We turned up at the airport and they're all screaming Beauden's name. Scott and I were looking at each other thinking 'what's going on?'

In all seriousness though, Jordie continued to say that the entire All Blacks side were happy to buy in to Beauden's adoration while in Japan.

"I think it's pretty cool.

"Everyone in the team knows there's a bit of expectation around him. The hype's good."
