Lanes closures on the Auckland Harbour Bridge caused rush hour delays this morning after a crash involving a car and a road marking truck, with the truck catching fire.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand told 1 NEWS they were called to the crash in the southbound lane on the northern side of the bridge about 4.40am.
Two fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze.
Most lanes were blocked at the time with paint and diesel spread across the road, but the truck and crash debris has since been removed.
In a statement NZTA said all southbound lanes were now opened.
There is a 70 kph speed limit in lanes one and two because of diesel residue on the road, and NZTA advised motorists take care and stick to the new limit.
"Traffic is backed up but starting to move, but it will take some time to clear through the morning peak."
Motorists are advised to delay non-essential travel on State Highway until after the morning peak and avoid the area if possible. There are also significant delays on the Western Ring Route.
