One person has been seriously injured following a shooting incident in the Auckland CBD early this morning.

Police were called to the scene on Cross Street at around 1.45am, police said in a statement.

One person has been transported to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries, a St John spokesperson told 1 NEWS.

Police are making inquiries to establish the circumstances behind the incident.
