One person dead after crash in Taranaki

One person has died in a two-vehicle crash in Waitotara, in Taranaki.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the Waitotara River Bridge, State Highway 3 about 8.25am.

The road is expected to be closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and delay travel if possible, police said in a statement.

The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene.
