One person dead following crash between car and pedestrian in Bay of Plenty

One person has died following a crash between a car and a pedestrian in the eastern Bay of Plenty early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Omarumutu Road, near the intersection with State Highway 35, in Ōpōtiki, at around 2.25am, police said.

The serious crash unit is at the scene.

Scene and road closures are in place following the incident.
