Man, 51, charged with murder of 16-month-old boy in Auckland

A 51-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 16-month-old boy in Auckland last month.

Police have charged the man in connection with a homicide investigation into the death of Malcolm Robert Bell in Auckland City.

"Today’s arrest is the result of countless hours of work by a team of investigators who have investigated this child’s tragic death," Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber of Auckland City Police said.

Malcolm died in Starship Hospital on Saturday June 29.

The man charged is due to appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow.
