Person dies following crash near Opotiki

A person has died following a single-vehicle crash southwest of Opotiki in the Bay of Plenty this morning.

Police received a report of the crash on State Highway 2, near the intersection of Ruatuna Road, around 8.40am.

The road was closed with diversions in place for a time.

Police say inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and they extend their sympathies to the person's family and friends.
