One person dead, SH1 closed, after two-vehicle crash near Whāngārei

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 near Whāngārei.

Police say the crash took place in Oakleigh around 5.50pm.

One person died and another person received moderate injuries.

The road remains closed.

Diversions are in place at Springfield Road and Salmon Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
