A number of horses became stuck in a horse float after a crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway during rush hour.

Police say the Southern Motorway is now open after the crash at Totara Heights this afternoon.

There are no reports of injuries; three horses that were stuck in a horse float have now been cleared from the scene.

There are significant traffic delays and motorists are asked to avoid the area or delay travel if possible.
