National MP Nick Smith’s 24-hour lockout from Parliament is expected to end today after being suspended by Speaker Trevor Mallard for "grossly disorderly conduct".

The MP accused the speaker of being soft on drugs after failing to have leave granted for a roadside drug testing bill.

The last time an MP was dismissed from Parliament was 13 years ago, also for disorderly conduct. That MP was Nick Smith.
