Patient Auckland drivers stop to allow pesky bird to cross busy motorway

Auckland's notorious drivers showed a softer side this morning as they stopped to allow a bird to cross safely.

The incident took place on the Southern Motorway, and came during heavy traffic. 

Vision shows drivers in the right hand lane stopped for the bird, before motorists in the lane next to them did the same. 

"The bird has crossed the road safely and wandered off into the bushes," NZTA said, after posting the footage to its Twitter account.
