Dave Rennie has all but ended rumours of a potential shift to international rugby with the Wallabies after signing a contract extension with his Pro14 club this morning.
Glasgow Warriors announced yesterday the Kiwi coach has opted to renew his deal with the club and remain in Scotland until at least June 2020.
The announcement comes after a report from the Sydney Morning Herald last month said Rennie was "Rugby Australia's pick" to replace Michael Cheika as the Wallabies head coach after this year's World Cup.
Instead, Rennie has quashed that report and stated staying in Glasgow was an easy decision.
"I think the squad will be even better next season and I'm really keen to be a part of that. I've really enjoyed my first two years in Glasgow and it's an exciting time for the club.
"We're going to have a lot of guys away at the Rugby World Cup and then our Scotland players will play in the Six Nations, so we won't see a lot of those men.
"But we've got good depth and it'll be a great opportunity for others during that period, so there is so reason why we can't kick on."
While Rennie could still be pursued by Rugby Australia after 2020, they could also find another candidate to take over for the long-term with fellow Kiwi Warren Gatland also reportedly in the mix after he finishes with Wales this year.
