An inquisitive puppy has survived a brush with death after swallowing a drawing pin on Australia's Gold Coast.
Seven-month-old French bulldog Mac was eating dinner last Saturday when he inhaled the sharp object, Nine News reports.
Mac was rushed to Carrara's Animal Emergency Service where a team of three veterinarians and three nurses worked to save him.
"He was coughing, gagging, retching and trying to bring something up but all he could bring up were just flecks of blood," Animal Emergency Service director Dr Rob Webster said.
The team were struggling to remove the thumbtack, which had gone too far down his airway, when a colleague used some extendable magnets he had bought three years prior to remove the object.
After a two-hour-long operation, the pin was removed and Mac was soon back to normal.
The puppy has since made a full recovery.
