The Highlanders are facing the tough task of taking on an in-form Crusaders side in Christchurch on Friday.
With only two wins so far in the 2019 Super Rugby season, the Highlanders are under the pump having dropped their last four matches.
Highlanders utility back Matt Faddes puts down his side's funk to poor execution and failure to take their chances.
"It's probably something that we have lacked the last couple of weeks [taking opportunities]," said Faddes.
"The Crusaders are a quality side who don't give you too many opportunities, we have to be on our game and make sure we take them."
The Crusaders sit at the top of the Super Rugby ladder with the Highlanders in ninth position in the overall standings.
"They're a really good side at what they do, so we have got our own style and we try to play an exciting brand," Faddes said.
"It suits our game plan, our athletes and individuals so you'll probably see a bit of that on Friday.
"In that Brumbies game it shows you the quality of the Crusaders how they can have an off 40 and then come back in the final 40 and really turn things up."
The Crusaders surged to 36-14 win over the Brumbies after trailing 7-0 at the break in Christchurch on Saturday.
"For us it's an 80 minute performance, taking our opportunities and just being real clinical."
The last time the Highlanders won a match was in round two in February 22, beating the Queensland Reds 36-31 in Dunedin.
