The 18-year-old was also accused of posting a photo of the Deans Avenue mosque with the message “target acquired”.

A Christchurch teenager has made his second appearance in court today on charges relating to his online activity before and after the attacks on two city mosques.

The 18-year-old is facing two charges under the Films, Videos and Publications Classifications Act.

He's charged that on March 15, the day of the shooting, he distributed an objectionable publication, being the livestream of the murder of multiple victims at the Deans Avenue Mosque.

He's also charged that in the week before the shooting, he made an objectionable publication, showing a photograph of the Deans Ave mosque with a message "Target Acquired".  He’s also alleged to have made posts inciting extreme violence.

A lawyer for the 18-year-old today indicated he would plead not guilty to the charges.

His name suppression was continued and he’ll reappear in court next week to seek bail.
