Hurricanes stand-in captain TJ Perenara has defended youngster Chase Tiatia, following a high profile mistake in last night's 32-8 loss to the Crusaders last night.
With the Hurricanes already behind on the scoreboard, 23-year old Tiatia spilled a kick, only to see Crusaders winger Will Jordan pounce on the loose ball and score.
Speaking to media after the loss though, Perenara assured that focus should be on the multiple positives in Tiatia's game, rather than the one negative.
"I thought his game itself as a whole was really good," Perenara said. "He kicked really well, he carried really well, and he passed well."
"He made an error on a kick that they put through and they scored off, and that's what a lot of people will look at and say he played a bad game. But his whole game I thought he played really well.
"So let's not take one thing he did in a game and say 'you're whole game was poor'. Look at the whole game that he played. Like I said he kicked really well for us, put us in the right areas of the field, carried really well and distributed really well.
"So, I thought Chase actually went really well for us."
