Pair armed with knife and hammer hold up Burger King in Christchurch

Two men armed with a knife and hammer robbed a fast food outlet in the Christchurch suburb of Shirley, sparking an ongoing police investigation.

Two men entered Burger King on Marshland Road at around 8.45pm last Wednesday, one armed with a knife and the other with a hammer.

After threatening staff they took a sum of money from cash registers, Detective Constable Scott Murphy said.

The men left the premises and drove off from Sabina Street towards Hope Street in a silver Subaru station wagon, he said.

Police investigating the aggravated robbery are seeking information from the public.

Anyone who might have seen the vehicle in the area at the time, or has information which might assist is asked to call police on 03 363 7400, quoting file number 190328/3219.
