Woman who keeps Tolaga Bay ticking rewarded for her work

Budgie McIlroy is on speed dial at any hour of the day or night if someone needs in-home care, a trip to Gisborne Hospital or even help fundraising. (Source: Other)

This week's ASB Good as Gold award winner is a woman that keeps the town of Tolaga Bay, just north of Gisborne, ticking.

It's remote, there's no hospital, and the residents turn to one woman for help when they need it.

Budgie McIlroy is on speed dial at any hour of the day or night if someone needs in-home care, a trip to Gisborne Hospital, or even help fundraising for the local sports team.
