For most of us, the washing's a chore that brings little pleasure and often little thanks.
But in Auckland, there's one laundry operation that's far from a chore for those who do it because the appreciation factor is off the scale.
Orange Sky New Zealand's mission statement is to "positively connect people experiencing homelessness through free laundry, showers and conversation".
