Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's destructive innings paved the way for the Delhi Captials' season opening victory in the IPL, coming away with a 37-run victory over the Mumbai Indians.
Playing for the first time as the Delhi Capitals - having rebranded from the Daredevils over the off-season - the visitors were put into bat first after Mumbai won the toss on their home ground.
The Captials were rocked early by the dismissal of opener Prithvi Shaw for seven in just the second over, former Black Cap Mitchell McClenaghan snaring the wicket caught behind by South Africa's Quinton de Kock.
McClenaghan would have his second victim in his next over, getting Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer caught at extra cover for 16, bringing together the duo of Indian ODI opener Shikhar Dhawan, and South Africa's Colin Ingram.
The pair added 83 runs for the third wicket, before Ingram's dismissal saw Pant arrive at the crease.
The 21-year old didn't hold back in his assault on the Mumbai bowling attack, finishing the innings with an astonishing 78 not out from just 27 balls, seeing Delhi post 213/6 from their 20 overs.
McClenaghan was the pick of the Mumbai bowlers with 3/40 from his four overs.
In response, Mumbai's opening partnership of de Kock and captain Rohit Sharma attempted to get the run chase off to a strong start, putting on 33 inside the first four overs.
However, Sharma's dismissal for 14 triggered a collapse, with the Indians slipping from 33/0 to 45/3.
Regular wickets would continue to fall, with only Indian legend Yuvraj Singh (53 from 35) offering any resistance.
Delhi's Black Caps spearhead Trent Boult would chip in with a wicket, taking 1/42 from his four overs, as the Capitals got off to the perfect start under their new name, restricting Mumbai to 176 all out.
