An emotional speech by New Zealand's highest ranking Muslim police officer at an Auckland vigil for the victims of the Christchurch terror attacks has received nearly 2 million views on Facebook.
Superintendent Naila Hassan’s speech has received 1.8 million views and has been shared almost 29,000 times since she delivered it yesterday.
"I am a proud Muslim and I am a leader in the New Zealand police and I am horrified at the events in Christchurch," she says.
Ms Hassan said the police are looking to provide as much support to the people affected by the tragedy as they can.
"I want the people of Christchurch to know that we all stand with you and we all share in your grief and in your pain. We in the New Zealand police will do everything we can to support our wider community and in particular our Muslim communities."
Fifty people died and another 50 were injured in shooting attacks on two Christchurch mosques on Friday.
