An Australian man has been handed down a 12-month good behaviour bond and a NZ$103.5 fine following a one-punch attack on a man during a Boxing Day sale two years ago - despite the police's calls for a tough penalty.
Liam Agius, 21, punched a 43-year-old man who was standing in a queue with his young daughter at a JB Hi-Fi in Adelaide, South Australia, after he denied him from cutting in line, Nine News reports.
Agius, who has a history of violent offending, said outside court that he was "pretty relieved" after escaping a harsh penalty for the crime.
The Magistrate factored in Agius' age, guilty plea and willingness to join anger management programs during sentencing.
