Dogs scared off a man police say was attempting the aggravated robbery of a Christchurch dairy on Sunday night.
According to police a man entered a dairy on the corner of New Brighton Road and Rawson Street and threatened the shop owner around 8:50pm on Sunday night.
A CCTV image of the man appears to show him holding a machete in a threatening manner in the dairy.
Police say the shop owner's dogs appear to have frightened the offender, who then left on foot.
The man is yet to be identified and police are asking for the public's help.
