A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of a man after a fight at Pukemiro near Huntly early this month.
Police said they were called to a property late on Friday March 1 and despite first aid the male victim died at the scene.
A homicide investigation was launched and police this afternoon announced the arrest.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson says the arrested man has also been charged with assault with a weapon and he will appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
"Police would like to thank members of the public for information provided that led to this arrest," Mr Patterson said.

No one else is sought over the matter, he said.
