Highlanders lock Josh Dickson says his forward pack can match it with the undefeated Crusaders and can "dominate" the defending Super Rugby champions in their upcoming New Zealand derby match.

The Highlanders host the Crusaders at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin this Saturday.

Although the Highlanders lost to the Hurricanes 25-22 in Wellington last weekend, Dickson's side dominated the Canes upfront and at set piece for large portions of the match.

"Yeah we train hard as forward pack and we do our part and we have a good plan," said Dickson.

"So if we go out there and execute there should be nothing really that should be stopping us.

"We have just got to do our job and do it well."

The Crusaders are yet to drop a game this season in the Super Rugby competition.

"We've got to go out there and dominate, we've got to do our best," Dickson said.

"We are not going to say that we are not going to dominate them, that's our plan.

"And we have got to execute everyone's role, if we do that we will dominate."

The Highlanders are third in the New Zealand Super Rugby conference and sit sixth in the overall competition standings.
