Teenage boy being towed by sea biscue dies after being struck by propeller at Coromandel beach

A teenage boy has died following an incident at Pauanui Beach, Coromandel yesterday.

Police were called to the scene about 3:50pm.

Two teenage boys were being towed on a sea biscuit, when a wave hit the towing boat and spun it around.  As a result, he and another friend were hit by the boat's propeller.

His friend suffered multiple lacerations and was flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
