One person dead, three others injured, in two-car crash near Opotoki

One person has died, with three others injured, after a two-car crash in the eastern Bay of Plenty region.

Emergency services were called at about 3pm and are at the scene on State Highway 2.

One person is in a serious condition, and two others have sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

The road is currently blocked and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene.
