Homicide investigation underway after man shot dead in Auckland's Māngere

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot dead in Māngere, Auckland in the early hours of this morning.

In a statement Detective Inspector Tofilau Faa Vaaelua says police were called to a location on Vine Street just before 1am today.

"While the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed, it appears the victim suffered a gunshot wound," Inspector Vaaelua says.

Police have cordoned off a large area around the shops on Vine Street as part of the scene examination and advise the public to avoid the area if at all possible.
