It could be a few more days before officials make a call on letting Lime e-scooters back on Auckland streets.

The scooters were taken off the streets on Friday after a brake issue saw a number of people hurt by the scooters seizing up and hurling them off.

After initially saying it would make a decision yesterday, Auckland Council now says it'll take 24 hours to make a decision once it gets updated safety information.

It expects that should be this week.

Councillors meanwhile have been bombarded with thousands of emails after lime urged supporters to message them.

The Automobile Association says the scooters should be taken off roads in all centres until there are assurances they're safe and they should be fit for purpose like any other product.
