A man received stab wounds in an incident on a street corner in Hawera this afternoon and police are seeking witnesses.
Taranaki Police say they were notified of a disorder event around 1pm at the intersection of Albion and High Streets.
A male received stab wounds at the scene and is now recovering in hospital in a stable condition, the police said in a statement tonight.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in relation to the stabbing, the statement said.
He will appear in Hawera District Court tomorrow on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to contact Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Henry on 06 278 0260.
