Former Irish international and now Crusaders assistant coach Ronan O’Gara is putting his hand up for the head coaching role at the Super Rugby franchise, and possibly more.

Current Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson is considered a contender to take over from Steve Hansen at the All Blacks, when he steps aside after this year's Rugby World Cup in Japan.

O'Gara said today he would be interested in being promoted and even open to joining Robertson in the All Blacks setup.

"I think sport has taught me these things work themselves out," said O'Gara.

"If that means Razor [Robertson] wouldn't take me to the All Blacks job, which I would have to ask him questions about.

"Everything is possible. I think the most important thing is if I do my job these things look after themselves."

Defending Super Rugby champions, the Crusaders are unbeaten so far this year having defeated the Blues and Hurricanes in their first two fixtures.
