With under fire former All Blacks winger Julian Savea out of the side, Toulon have bounced back from their recent woes with a 38-11 win over Top 14 rivals Pau.

Following criticism from club owner Mourad Boudjellal earlier this week , Savea, 28, was dropped to the bench, his spot taken by French wing Daniel Ikpefan, who scored to put the former All Blacks and Hurricanes star's spot under pressure.

Wales halfback Rhys Webb opened the scoring for Toulon, crossing over in the 11th minute, before Argentina flanker Facundo Isa getting another just three minutes later.

Pau would grab a try back through the efforts of hooker Quentin Lespiaucq, before Toulon restored their advantage through Fiji's Josua Tuisova before halftime.

After the break though, Toulon didn't relent in their ascendancy, with Ikpefan and Anthony Meric both scoring to seal the 38-11 win.

Despite the win, Toulon still languish in 10th on the Top 14 overall ladder, languishing after a season that's seen them only register seven wins from 17 matches.
