Despite his side's 38-22 defeat to the Crusaders in Christchurch last night, Hurricanes captain Dane Coles was simply relieved to get through some game time after an injury plagued two years.
Having battled concussion and knee issues, Coles last night had his first start for the Hurricanes in 574 days, not wearing the number two jersey for his side since the 2017 semi-final defeat to the Lions in Johannesburg.
Speaking to media after the loss, Coles spoke about his happiness in returning to Super Rugby after his long lay off.
"[I'm] just happy to be out there," he began.
"[I] got through 60 minutes and I felt really good, so hopefully I can stay on the field for a few more games - it'd be nice.
"Just being amongst the team and putting the jersey on has been awesome. I'm just loving my time."
Coles and the Hurricanes will have to regroup, next week playing their first home match of the season against the Brumbies in Palmerston North.
