Police are reminding festival goers about the risk of taking drugs ahead of this weekend's Electric Avenue Festival at Hagley Park in Christchurch.

More than a dozen people were hospitalised at last year's event after taking a bad batch of MDMA.

Police say the easiest way to prevent drug harm is to not take any substances at all.

A crowd of 16000 is expected to turn out tomorrow, up from 13000 last year.
