The Cronulla Sharks have quashed speculation that star signing Shaun Johnson could be a casualty of the ongoing NRL investigation into the club's salary cap.
Having signed after a messy exit from the Warriors late last year, a report in the Australian suggested that Johnson could be cut from the Sharks' squad in order to comply with salary cap rules.
However, speaking to Fox Sports, Sharks chief executive Barry Russell ruled out Johnson being forced out.
"Nothing in it, Johnson is going nowhere," Russell said.
"All speculation. Have got nothing else until the NRL hand down their salary cap investigation determination."
Johnson is in line to make his Sharks NRL debut when Cronulla open their 2019 season against the Knights on March 15.
