An NHL sideline commentator has been given an eye-opening reminder of just how close to the action he was after an ice hockey puck skimmed past his face during a game.
NBC broadcaster Pierre McGuire was almost struck by an errant puck during yesterday's game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Replays showed just how close McGuire, who was sitting in a rinkside dugout, was to certain injury with the puck flying past and hitting a nearby camera instead.
Fellow commentators made light of the situation, saying McGuire's "Inside the Glass" segment really lived up to it's name in the moment.
Tampa Bay went on to win the match 5-1.
