Black Caps fast bowler Trent Boult has been slapped with a fine from the International Cricket Council after he was reported by match officials for swearing during Saturday's ODI win over Bangladesh.

The ICC said in a statement today Boult had been fined 15 per cent of his $4000 match fee for breaching article 2.3 of the code of conducts - a section which deals with use of an audible obscenity during an international match".

The 29-year-old quick took figures of 1-49 in 10 overs during the Black Caps' eight wicket win in Christchurch, but his use of "audible obscene words twice when his side was bowling" led to on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Shaun Haig, and third umpire Sundaram Ravi charging him.

Boult pleaded guilty and accepted the sanction, copping a $600 fine.

It is Boult's first breach of the revised code of conduct since it was introduced in 2016.
