Police name woman whose body was found in Wellington lagoon, death still being treated as 'unexplained'

Police have named the woman whose body was found in a lagoon in Wellington yesterday.

She was Sarah Pauline Louise Mayne, 48, of Wellington.

Police are still treating Ms Mayne's death as unexplained and are continuing to work towards establishing a cause, and the events leading up to her death after her body was discovered in Whairepo Lagoon, near Frank Kitts Park.

Ms Mayne's next-of-kin have been notified of her death.

Wellington police are looking to speak with people who were around the wooden boardwalks on the city side of the Whairepo Lagoon between Friday, February 15 at 9pm, and Saturday, February 16 at 3am.

The area is between Frank Kitts Park and Te Papa, on the Wellington Waterfront.
