February 8, 2019

Jason Gunn has paid an emotional tribute to popular television star John Cocks, known as Cocksy, on Instagram.

The 52-year-old died on Wednesday, February 6, after a long battle with cancer.

The handyman was on the shows My House My Castle and Cocksy’s Day Off and was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2016.

"Some sad news – we lost a great bugger today," the More FM host told his followers in a video he uploaded to Instagram.

"A real good New Zealander. Cocksy our favourite home handyman has passed away."

"He was such a character, such a great storyteller. The thing is, he could make something out of nothing with his incredible hands."

"His greatest trait I believe, was the way he treated others… … so Cocksy, thank you mate, thank you, you’ll be sadly missed,"  Gunn concluded chocking back tears.

John Cocks is survived by his wife Dana Coote and three daughters.
