Smoke plumes billow from fire on Ruapuke Island, off Bluff

Smoke has been seen billowing from Ruapuke Island off Bluff in Southland this afternoon.

A 1 NEWS crew witnessed the plume of smoke from the mainland.

The uninhabited island is 15 kilometres south-east of Bluff.
