Veteran All Blacks midfielder Sonny Bill Williams has hinted 2019 could be his final season in both black and blue.
The 33-year-old, who is contracted with New Zealand Rugby and the Blues until after this year's World Cup, told the New Zealand Herald his frustrating battle with injuries in recent years could play a part in his decision.
"I've had my share of events that have made me the person that I am today," he said.
"If I did finish at the end of the year, as long as I competed every day and put my best foot forward as a person and a player I'll be happy. Who knows?"
Williams has had to deal with injuries to his wrist, knee and shoulder since joining the Blues - the latest was an AC joint shoulder injury against England during last year's end of year tour.
He's since recovered from that injury and is fully fit for the Blues' opening game against the Crusaders at Eden Park next Saturday where he could line up alongside former All Black Ma'a Nonu.
