Man brandishing weapon robs Oamaru motel

An Oamaru motel was robbed by a man brandishing a weapon last night, with the man taking cash.

Police say the man entered the Ascot Motel on Thames Highway at 8pm on Monday.

They say the man threatened the motelier with a weapon before leaving with an amount of money.

The wanted man is described as Polynesian, of solid build and was wearing a black shirt, puffer vest and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to contact Oamaru Police on 03 433 1400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
