One person in a serious condition following stabbing in Auckland

One man remains in hospital following a stabbing in Auckland this morning.

Police were called to a property on Eban Avenue in Hillcrest at about 1.50am after receiving reports of two men fighting.

One of the men received stab wounds to his chest during the fight and was transported to hospital in a critical condition, authorities said.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

The other man was also injured during the fight but has now been released from hospital and is currently being interviewed by detectives.

Inquiries are ongoing, with police at the scene completing a scene examination.

Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill says the two men are known to each other.
