After last night's success at the Sydney Sevens, New Zealand's women's side are miles ahead of the chasing pack, according to one of Australia's big guns.
With yesterday's 34-10 win over Australia in the Sydney final, the Black Ferns Sevens have now gone 48 straight matches across the World Series, as well as successful World Cup and Commonwealth Games campaigns, without a loss.
Naturally, focus for the Black Ferns Sevens will be set solely on taking the gold medal at next year's Olympics in Tokyo, with New Zealand now certain to enter the tournament as favourites, having been forced to settle for silver in Rio 2016.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia's Charlotte Caslick was in awe of the "clinical" New Zealand side.
"They are just, at the moment, miles ahead of everyone and it's obvious out there," she said.
"They're clinical, they take their opportunities when they're given and their defence is awesome. They're putting teams under pressure and forcing them into errors. You can't fault them there.
"I'd say we're nipping at their heels but yes, they are above us at the moment."
The next leg of the Women's World Sevens Series takes place in Japan in April.
