Italian football coach slapped with five-month ban for viciously headbutting rival team's assistant

A third-tier Italian football coach has been slapped with a five-month ban for viciously headbutting a member of the opposition coaching staff after a match.

Lucchese manager Giancarlo Favarin also told one of his players to break an opponent's leg during the 2-2 draw with Alessandria on Monday.

Video of the incident after the match showed the bald-headed Favarin walk around some scuffling coaches and viciously headbutt one of his rivals.

He had previously instigated "a slanging match with a member of the opposing team's staff".

The victim of the headbutt, Gaetano Mancino, was also handed a "two-match ban for offensive and provocative behaviour towards the coach of the rival team during the match".
